1960 W7th Avenue

The proposed redevelopment at 1960 West 7th Avenue embodies the foundational principles of a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable urban ecosystem. It appreciates the vital interplay of diverse uses and builds upon the existing city fabric, while ensuring that the benefits of densification are equitably distributed.
The massing form parti consists of two volumes: the podium and the tower. As a mid-block site, the massing aims to create a defined edge for the new public realm along W7th Avenue with the podium. The tower stands out through its contrasting color, breaking away from the usual mundane monochrome beige seen in many existing buildings in the area. The podium establishes a new setback from the street, with townhouse units and the building entry lining its front. The west side continues the townhouses to the rear of the site, terminating with outdoor amenities on the south side. Balconies are designed as accessories to the podium, adding detail and texture. The building’s cladding features an earthy, neutral color palette, providing a striking contrast against the sky during both summer and winter months.
