The new owners of Tillicum Mall, REIT, are redeveloping this major retail centre located northwest of downtown Victoria. Tillicum Mall is serviced by theatres, restaurants, and a community arena complex — and a planned new branch library. MCM’s design would expand the Mall retail space by some 45,000 square feet, while developing better parking and access for the existing Arena and improved transit amenities. Exterior features of the design will continue the existing brick and with trellis elements, which provide support for climbing plants that are a distinctive feature of Tillicum Mall. The project received approval from the Corporation of the District of Saanich in July 2003.
