MCM - Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership

The town of Comox is rich in its marine activity focus, with little opportunity for tourist accomodation. The owners of the waterfront property and marina had a vision to achieve a community resort lodge integrated with civic uses of the oceanfront The design directions sought an enhanced public waterfront zone of boardwalks, boat ramps, marina connections, and a community venue to enjoy the marine offerings within a full service lodge.

The design response wrapped the public uses around the four storey, 90 room lodge, and achieved a transparent ground plane with contained outdoor pools and patios. The expanded boardwalks and boat ramps were provided to serve as gathering spaces for the everyday and keynote days of boating, fireworks, and celebrations
