PricewaterhouseCoopers Place

Vancouver, BC

Located at the intersection of Howe Street and Cordova Street in Vancouver, BC, this 20-storey office tower is built upon existing foundations that straddle the Waterfront SkyTrain Station below. It is 275,000 square feet in total area with 14,700 square foot plates.

A split-level lobby allows access directly from the street level and to the facilities at Granville Square. This includes the existing pedestrian concourse system and a 2-acre renovated plaza. Retail is located on both Howe Street and Cordova Street.

The form and materials of the building are a counterpoint to the existing buildings in the immediate vicinity. The composition of rectilinear and curved forms resolves the intersection of two different building grids at this site and helps take advantage of the views from the building to the water and mountains, and views of the building along Cordova Street from both directions. The lightly coloured green glass and aluminum curtain wall reinforce the massing with contrasting horizontal and vertical emphasis.

Completed in January 2003, PricewaterhouseCoopers Place is an elegant addition to Vancouver's waterfront district. Its clean lines, modest scale and thoughtful design combine to create a uniquely appealling structure.
