INTERMEDIATE ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:
Main Job Duties
- Produce technical information for architectural projects with reference to building codes and other technical documents along with analysis of the site and client requirements in relation to building code requirements.
- Produce drawings both manually and digitally using AutoCAD within a wide variety of software packages for the purposes of design, applying for permits, use as bidding documents and as construction documents.
- Liaise with the client and engineering design team to coordinate technical aspects of projects.
- Supervise production by project team assuring accuracy, efficiency, compliancy with office procedures, and correct and constant coordination with the design team.
- Assist in the preparation of specifications, estimates of costs and quantify materials.
- Provide Contract Administration services to the project during construction by coordinating works on site with the firm’s design and undertake site reviews. This will include the review of Shop Drawings, issuing Supplementary Instructions, Contemplated Change Notices and Change Orders.
- Become part of the IT support team providing day-to-day assistance to colleagues with regard to computer hardware and software.
- Conduct in-house training and provide instruction (one-on-one or Lunch ‘n Learns session) to colleagues for computer applications/software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Sketch-up.
- Provide AutoCAD Manager with solutions and experience to stream-line systems and processes to enhance QA/QC performance.
- Certificate/Diploma in Architectural and Building Engineering & Technology
- Have up to date knowledge and information on the latest codes, City bylaws and requirements for coordination of Municipal requirements. Knowledge of BC Building Code
- Proficient with the following software: AutoCAD, Revit; Vectorworks; ArchiCAD; Photoshop, Adobe Suite, QuarkXPress; Sketch-up; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- First-hand knowledge of historic, contemporary, current and upcoming trends in International architecture and design, particularly in the retail, commercial sector.
- Life experience through travel and employment abroad an asset
- 5-7+ years of industry experience (intermediate-level)
- Advanced use and experience with AutoCAD, Revit; Vectorworks; ArchiCAD; Photoshop, Adobe Suite, QuarkXPress; Sketch-up; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent detailing capabilities and production of Architectural Development and Building Permit and Construction drawings in AutoCAD and Revit and Sketch-up.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are required along with experience with medium - to large-scale architectural projects.
- Ability to work with a team and also able to self-direct.
- Experience working with tight production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills are a must.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills along with an excellent command of the English language – both written and verbal.
- Ability to clearly express design concepts in computer-generated drawings for purposes of tender and construction.
- Motivated self-starter, quick-to-learn and apply critical thinking in developing solutions to project challenges.
- Ability to do building code reviews independently, production and checking of Development Permit, Building Permit and Construction drawings.

INTERMEDIATE DESIGNERS
- 3 to 5 years experience in schematic design, development permit application and design development process.
- Demonstrate creative ability in various project types such as hotels, resorts, hospitality healthcare and commercial design.
- Advanced 3D visualization and graphic skills in 3DS Max 2010, CS3, Revit, and/or Sketch-up.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD 2010 and Microsoft Office 2007
- Understanding of BC Building Code
